The Potato Eater by Van Gogh (1885)

The Potato Eater by Van Gogh was created in 1883. It was Van Gogh’s first “masterpiece”. The work was done with oil on canvas. The work has a low saturation. The emphasis of the painting is draw in in by the light shades that imply light within the middle of the room from the lamp. The focus of the piece is centered at the table where it seems as a conversation is taking place.
