Forward Retreat by Mark Tansley (1986)

Forward Retreat by Mark Tansley was painted in 1986. Tansley used oil on canvass as his medium. Tansley used implied motion by creating the feel of ripples in the water. He also uses red to portray the act of war which is implicit in his design. This piece is also a great example of how to use different shades of red.
